You would think that living in Florida and being surrounded by beaches and the coolest attractions would mean that life is like a 24/7 vacation. Sadly, this is not the case.........
Yes, real life does happen in Florida to. I know, I know, I was just as surprised to find that out as you are. I happen to figure that out quickly after I moved from Michigan to Florida myself 9 years ago. And yes, even though my life is not a 24/7 vacation, it is the best decision that I (and my boyfriend at the time, who is now my husband) ever made.
Now, I know I said that it wasn't a 24/7 vacation, however that doesn't mean that it doesn't have it's perks, and here are just a few of the reasons I love it:
At the top of the list is of course the Sun. The wonderful Sun! It's basically never actually cold here, well not really cold. Being from Michigan I don't consider anything above 32 degrees cold, which mind you it can get down to here at night for a few hours for about two weeks a year. So basically that means (drum roll please)............... No Winter Clothes! Yup, you read that right, no winter clothes. No need for bulky coats and boots, or gloves and mittens that will just get lost anyway. Gotta love that!
Next up, the beaches. There are some beautiful beaches here, and while there are some that are crawling with tourists during the busy season, there are still quite a few gems that the tourists haven't discovered just yet. Personally I love seeing the water, even if it's just for a few minutes, on a stressful day it's so calming to sit and watch the waves. The best part is that since there is water everywhere here, it's totally free! Gotta love that.
And finally, I have to include the attractions. And I don't just mean the obvious one (Disney), but there are a ton of things to do here. If you have kids, there is Disney and all of the Disney Parks. If you love roller coasters, there is Busch Gardens in Tampa. If you love NASCAR, there is Daytona International Speedway. In addition to those there is also Kennedy Space Center, Dinosaur World, and of course there are plenty of golf courses to choose from, as well as Casino's to try your luck at. The best part is that at most of these attractions there are special Florida Resident Rates, so you can buy your tickets at a discounted price.
Now there is one drawback to living in Florida, you still have to work. So while you are surrounded by beautiful scenery and cool things to do, you can't do them. At least not all the time. We have to plan out our vacations the same as anyone else, we just don't have to travel as far as most to get to our destination.
Overall, I myself love it here, I don't think I'll ever move to a different state again, Florida has become my home. Every day is an adventure with something new just waiting to be discovered!
That's all I have for now.
Until next time, stay warm out there!
